Sanoviv offers a unique opportunity to enjoy exercise with a focus on health-related fitness and movement. Physical activity has many benefits for managing and improving chronic health conditions.

Blood Sugar Management: Physical activity helps regulate blood sugar levels by improving insulin sensitivity. It can also assist in maintaining a healthy weight, which is crucial for managing type 2 diabetes.

At Sanoviv, our fitness staff evaluates your current condition to recommend safe and appropriate activities for your specific health needs. Here are some of the standard practices in our fitness department:

Fitness Assessment

All Sanoviv programs include an initial assessment customized based on age, current exercise or movement practices, and health condition. This helps get a baseline measurement for various fitness parameters, such as cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, flexibility, and balance. After areas of strength and those that need improvement are identified, the fitness professional can develop a balanced program. It can help determine the safe and appropriate activities during your stay and at home. The fitness assessment can easily be customized so we can make the movement recommendations for your specific health condition.

In some cases, a person is too ill to exercise. However, the Sanoviv fitness team collaborates with chiropractors and doctors to see if any type of movement is suitable. Sometimes, our fitness professionals go to a guest’s room and help perform appropriate stretches and movements to encourage healing.

Individual Sessions

Individual fitness sessions offer many benefits that cater specifically to your personal needs. It’s your one-on-one time with a fitness professional. This way, the trainer can focus entirely on you, tailoring exercises and workouts to match your fitness level, goals, and medical conditions. During your session, the trainer teaches you improved exercise technique and form and works with you to customize a home fitness plan. Personalized workouts can also be a great way to reduce stress and improve mental health. The one-on-one attention can make the workout more enjoyable and less intimidating.

Group Classes

Group exercise classes are offered regularly and considered multi-level. Most of the classes are low-intensity and suitable for all fitness levels. Rebounding is the only moderately intense group class. However, with all group classes, we encourage you to go at your own pace and let the instructor know if you have special needs. Often, an instructor can show you how to modify specific movements. Sometimes, your doctor may recommend individual sessions rather than group classes.

Walking Path

The walking path at Sanoviv is about one eighth of a mile long and hand-made with beautiful flat stones. We encourage you to walk daily for gentle exercise while taking in the beauty, sunshine, and ocean air.

Fitness in Your Guest Suite

In addition to the rebounder and chi machine that’s provided in your guest suite (see the “Detoxification Practices” for instructions), you have a wall ladder that’s ideal for stretching or strength training with resistance bands. A member of the fitness team can show you suitable exercises for your room.
