Thyroid Conditions Assesment
Hypothyroidism
Have you been diagnosed or been dealing with hypothyroidism? Do you wonder why you still have symptoms when your thyroid lab tests are normal? Does it seem like even though you have tried medication, your thyroid symptoms are not improving? Of the more than 27 million Americans suffering from thyroid dysfunction, about half will go undiagnosed. Half of the detected cases of hypothyroidism are due to an autoimmune disorder called Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, where the body’s immune system attacks and destroys thyroid gland tissue. Often with thyroid problems, the question of why the thyroid gland is dysfunctional never comes up. Doctors just prescribe medication to mask the symptoms and ask you to keep doing what you are doing without looking any further.

Measuring Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) is a common way to assess thyroid function, but many other factors are involved, such as autoimmune issues, thyroid hormone conversion issues, nutritional deficiencies or pituitary dysfunction. Measuring TSH alone does not do a good job in pinpointing the culprit.
With this in mind, at Sanoviv we have made available a complete analysis of the endocrine system from the medical and nutritional points of view. Our team of experts will use several clinical tools to help identify the root cause of your thyroid dysfunction. Some of these are:
Complete thyroid panel (TSH, Free T3, Total T3, T4, Antibodies)
This battery of tests can give us a complete idea of what is going on in the thyroid. Sometimes we need to delve deeper into studying the thyroid, as many subclinical problems can escape the scope of the most common tests. The complete thyroid panel will look between the lines and give us a more comprehensive look into your thyroid activity.
Leaky gut:
Our ability to digest and assimilate nutrients is a key component of staying healthy. Sometimes, because of multiple factors, our gut looses the ability to properly balance this intricate process, affecting our health. This is sometimes called Leaky Gut, as the gut becomes permeable and allows undigested food to flow into the blood stream, creating an autoimmune response. Several symptoms and health issues can arise from this imbalance.
We assess this closely in hypothyroidism as it can be a trigger or mediate for a chronic inflammatory state and immune response.
Iodine:
Your levels of iodine can be a clear indicator of a poorly functioning thyroid gland, as this is a crucial component of healthy thyroid activity. Balanced levels of iodine are related to healthy balance of hormones, energy, mood and weight.
We can carefully assess the levels of iodine in your body, as many symptoms of low iodine are often misdiagnosed as other health issues.
Vitamin D levels:
The research is very clear on the importance of vitamin D for your overall well being. Vitamin D is associated with numerous physiological processes that are vital, and thyroid health is implicated.
Gluten sensitivity:
Allergy or sensitivity to gluten has been discovered to be much more common than was previously thought. Consuming something we are allergic or sensitive to create a biochemical of inflammation as our body “attacks” the incoming invader. Consuming gluten, which is abundant in our food chain, can exacerbate thyroid issues, sometimes being the main trigger for hypothyroidism.
Integration
Not only do we have state of the art diagnostic and assessment tools, we have a fully integrated team of health professionals who will study all of this information and connect the dots in order to determine not only why your biochemical, physiological, structural and psychospiritual individuality has developed hypothyroidism, but also how you can regain your health. This disorder, like many others, usually comes from multiple imbalances in person’s life. You will work in partnership with your team of health professionals that in turn will work with the whole staff of health professionals to create a program specifically designed for you from all the information obtained.
In your health team:
- Your Medical doctor will facilitate your medical treatment and coordinate all other treatments into your program.
- Your Psychologist will help to determine any emotional factors that might contribute to your thyroid issues, as unchecked stress can have a powerful effect on the function and structure of the endocrine system.
- Your Dentist will assess and treat any issues that could exacerbate the inflammatory process like heavy metal toxicity from amalgams. We know that heavy metals can play a role in thyroid disorders. The need for amalgam removal and detoxification of heavy metals will be closely evaluated by your medical team.
- Your Nutritionist will assess your diet and give you information on the critical role of certain foods that can contribute to thyroid dysfunction.
- Your Chiropractor will assess and treat any structural imbalances that might be contributing to your thyroid issues, such as the adjustment of the lumbar spine that can help restore the balance to the nervous system.
- Your Fitness Expert will help you strengthen and exercise your body in a holistic way to support detoxification and healing.
