I'm 64 years old and have been taking the USANA supplements, exercising and eating fairly healthy for several years. I considered myself healthy. I work as a nurse anesthetist (CRNA) in a large medical center. So in April, 2009 when I was diagnosed with Stage I lobular breast cancer, I was stunned. I've seen what patients go through with conventional surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. I did not want that. Since I trusted and respected Dr. Myron Wentz so much, I looked to Sanoviv for my care.
I spent one month (July, 2009) at Sanoviv in the Oncotherapy program. The approach was holistic. Not only did I have surgery ( a lumpectomy with sentinel lymph node excision), 4 weeks of numerous non traditional therapies (including microchemo) to kill the cancer, therapies to build my immune system up again, but also nutrition counseling, psychological support, exercise program and relaxation techniques. Because of the combination of therapies, three days after surgery I could walk 3 miles. Also my tumor markers were normal at discharge.
I continued with many of the oral therapies, diet and exercise program at home and returned in November, 2009 for a follow up – PET scan, ultrasound were both normal and tumor markers were again normal. I will follow up in another six months.
The atmosphere at Sanoviv is healing, nurturing and inspirational. Where else would patients sit in the dining room talking, laughing and enjoying themselves? Every staff person I came in contact with was genuinely kind, gentle and caring – all of the time. And I met with my doctor for a half hour conference everyday. This is unheard of in conventional medicine practices.
All I can say is thank you Dr. Wentz for this marvelous, innovative healing place and thank God for Sanoviv!
